Laboratory & Assessment

# Test, don’t guess.

Functional and conventional testing used to confirm a diagnosis, uncover the root causes of symptoms, and monitor whether your treatment plan is working.

### Blood testing

Used to confirm or rule out conditions and to uncover root causes of symptoms. Commonly ordered panels include iron, cholesterol, vitamin D and B12, and hormones. A requisition is required for the blood draw; these tests are not covered by OHIP when ordered by a naturopathic doctor.

### Food sensitivity (IgG)

Food sensitivities are a delayed hypersensitivity, not a true allergy, and can present as bloating, gastrointestinal discomfort, diarrhea, headaches, skin rashes and fatigue. A blood sample is assessed for IgG antibodies, which may also signal leaky gut or dysbiosis.

### Cortisol & adrenal testing

A 4-point saliva cortisol test collects samples across the day (morning, lunch, afternoon, before bed) to assess stress hormone production, adrenal dys-regulation and "adrenal fatigue." Cortisol patterns can influence energy, weight, sleep and fertility.

Stool & microbiome testing

A stool sample can reveal bio-markers of intestinal inflammation, microbiome flora, parasites and more. Options and price points vary based on your symptoms, medical history, family history and treatment goals.

### Hormone testing

Estrogens, TSH, insulin, progesterone, cortisol, DHEA, FSH and testosterone can be assessed in blood, saliva or urine. Blood is the most common and affordable method; saliva is convenient for monitoring during HRT; urinary metabolites (DUTCH) offer deeper insight into hormone imbalances.

Breath testing

Used to assess small intestine bacterial overgrowth (SIBO) and H. pylori infection. After drinking a prepared solution, timed breath samples are analyzed for specific gases, done either at LifeLabs or via an at-home kit.

### Urine testing

Conducted in-office, at LifeLabs or through an at-home kit. Helpful for bladder infections, kidney function, heavy metal toxicity and hormone levels. Urinary organic acids can also inform hormone imbalances, mood and neurodivergent conditions.

### Physical exams

In-office physical assessments, blood pressure, abdominal exams, height, weight and body measurements, provide objective information about your state of health. Physical exams are only available to in-office patients, not virtual consultation clients.

Individual prices of testing vary.

Appointments are always required to receive testing. Tests are only recommended when clinically indicated and as part of a treatment protocol. For pricing details, visit [Verdure Wellness Clinic](https://www.verdurewellnessclinic.com/) .
